Rachel Slade

Partner

Rachel Slade is a Partner at Express Solicitors who joined November 2012.

When asked what she likes best about her job, Rachel said ‘’Prior to going on maternity leave, I worked in the Employer’s Liability department. One of the main reasons I decided to work in this particular area of law was because I wanted to make a real difference to the lives of injured clients. I enjoyed building up a good relationship with my clients, to ensure I fully understood all circumstances of the accident and how it has personally affected them, and thus strived to get the best results I could for them.

I have now moved to the Quality & Progression department, where I hope to use my prior experience of file handling to ensure that the best level of service is provided to clients from other file handlers in the firm’’.

Rachel specialises in Employers Liability but has also gained experience in industrial disease matters. She also previously worked briefly in the Occupier’s Liability department.

In making a difference, Rachel said ‘’I feel that my approach is analytical, decisive, but at the same time I am empathic and make it a key objective to ensure I gain a good rapport with clients, and that they fully understand what is happening throughout the journey of their case. I was previously one of the Client Care partners, so this role further strengthened my client care skills.

I have always enjoyed reading, doing research to ensure to keep up to date with any changes in procedure and case law, and I have a good eye for detail, which has assisted me greatly in this role’’.

Rachel was previously on the MYSG committee from 2016 – 2018 as a Charity Director. She studied Law LLB at the University of Liverpool, and thereafter completed her LPC at The University of Law, Manchester.

Julie Pearson

Quality and Progression Executive

Julie Pearson

Quality and Progression Executive

Julie Pearson is a Quality and Progression Executive in the Quality and Progression team at Express Solicitors having joined the firm in September 2018.  Julie is no stranger to law firms, however, having started as a Junior Clerk in the 1980’s and working her way up the employment ladder.

Julie has had extensive training in personal injury law, having spent in excess of twenty years working at Manchester law firms as a Personal Injury Litigator where the cases she dealt with gradually increased in complexity and value.  She has taken great care in getting to grips with medical terminology and gained a self-taught qualification through the Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice Managers, Administrators and Receptionists (AMSPAR).

This has given Julie an excellent understanding of injuries sustained by clients enabling her to gain success in claims involving soft-tissue injuries, fractures, dislocations, ligament ruptures, extensive facial and body scarring, anxiety and PTSD, and more unusual cases such as Marfan syndrome where the accident affected the Claimant’s heart and surrounding tissues.  She has also been successful in pursuing claims against an automatism defence and has a 100% success rate for detailed assessment of costs.

Julie has an ethos of ‘getting things right the first time’ which has led her to the role that she now fulfills where quality is the key; describing it as ‘a feeling of coming home’.  Above all she wants to be of service in an ever-changing personal injury environment, where passing on her knowledge of how law firms operate in the specialism of personal injury may be of benefit to the experience of Claimants, staff and management.
