£70,000 compensation after accident in a Garage

Express Solicitors acted on behalf of Mr Wilkins who sustained a significant injury at work during the course of his employment as a mechanic.

Mr Wilkins was instructed by his employer to use a piece of equipment known as a whizzing wheel and as he was using it a piece of metal flew into his right eye causing a penetrating injury. His alloy-wheel-refurbish-01 (1)employer admitted they were at fault for causing the injury due to a lack of training and safety equipment.

Unfortunately Mr Wilkins had to undergo surgery on 5 occasions to help correct his vision, but was left with permanent symptoms that caused difficulty with depth perception which effected him on a day to day level and will also impact on his future employment opportunities.

Through the work of Express Solicitors Rob Weeden was able to secure Mr Wilkins the sum of £70,000.00 in compensation.

This reflected an award for the severity of his injuries, but also took into account his past loss of earnings arising from the accident and compensation in respect of reduced earnings Mr Wilkins is now likely to receive as a result of his injury. The compensation will also provide him with funds to allow him to undergo any future surgical treatment, if required, on a private basis.
