Changes to Criminal Injury Compensation Legislation

On the 10th March 2014, legislation changes are set to take place which may benefit those injured as a result of criminal activity. The legislation changes are going to dramatically reduce rehabilitation periods meaning that clients who previously were unable to claim for criminal injury compensation, may now be able to do so.

Those with previous criminal convictions are often unable to claim for criminal compensation, especially if their own crimes took place a short time before their injury. With the new legislation, rehabilitation periods will be greatly shortened and therefore it’s more likely that a conviction will be spent meaning that a claim for compensation can be made.
