I recently competed in the gruelling Manchester 10k run raising money for Parkinson’s UK (formerly Parkinson’s Disease Society). It’s a fantastic organisation which for over forty years has been working to find a cure for Parkinsons as well as providing invaluable support to all those affected by the disease. They also work with government and industry to help shape policy and ensure people suffering from Parkinson’s are treated fairly.
10k Run Takes It Out Of Senior Partner
Now I won’t lie to you the 10k run was tough and I’ve certainly had more relaxing afternoons. See the picture below where I struggle to raise a smile in the mandatory runner’s heat sheet.
But knowing friends colleagues and clients had pledged more than 500 pounds in donations to the charity in my name spurred my tired legs through the streets of Manchester and over the finish line.
Donations Key To Charity’s Survival
Running on behalf of Parkinson’s UK was a great honour and I’ll be encouraging as many of the Express Solicitors staff as possible to compete and fundraise next year.
The charity has funded more than 50million pounds of research to date and hope to step up their efforts to find a cure for the disease by increasing that figure to 75million pounds by the year 2014. You can make your own donation to Parkinson’s UK here.
