“The Donna Louise Hospital is an amazing, happy place. It’s sometimes not until you need to use the services of these wonderful places that you appreciate just how vital they are. The Donna Louise Hospital cares for children and young people with life-limiting or terminal illnesses. They provide much needed respite for families as well as important, emotional support: after all it’s every parent’s worst nightmare to think they may outlive their children. The staff are amazing, each one is special, they understand, they listen.

My young son was diagnosed with a very rare type of brain cancer, that he bravely fought for two years. We spent our last precious days with Tommy, whilst at the Hospice – he particularly loved the Pat Dogs. It costs over £1 million a year to keep the hospice open – these hospices are so vital, especially with the immense pressures on the NHS. I’m not sure how we would have coped without the Donna Louise Hospice.
