On 19th September 2012, Express Solicitors officially opened the doors to its new £1m office in Northenden.
Formerly a bed and furniture shop, the new building was bought for £700,000 and saw a further £300,000 spent on its refurbishment. The 8,000 sq ft building is situated immediately next door to Express Solicitors’ original building, the 15,000sq ft Resolution House on Palatine Road, bought five years ago for £1.5m.
The firm’s new offices will house 40 of its 113 members of staff and comprise its new client, employers’ liability, cost and accounts teams.
Managing partner James Maxey said: “Our firm has grown, organically, very quickly. Over the last year alone 33 new members of staff have joined us. It’s all part of our £3m expansion plan, designed to help us meet our strategic aim of doubling the number of cases we handle within three years.
“It is a real coup to secure this building next door to Resolution House as it has saved a lot of people the time, money and stress of having to move lock, stock and barrel.
“The firm now has 113 employees and we expect another 10 to join us by this time next year, so it’s vital we have the infrastructure to support our growth. We see the opening of this new building as a mark of our success and our confidence in our ambitious growth strategy.”
At the opening ceremony the Partners at Express Solicitors used a pair of oversized scissors to cut the ribbon and declared the building officially open.
The Law Society Gazette were quick to comment on the unconventional opening ceremony:
