Dog Bite/Attack Claims
If you have been bitten by a dog as a result of the negligence or recklessness of its owner, you may be able to make a dog bite compensation claim for the injuries you suffered. In dog bite claims it can be difficult to establish blame, thus it is important that you contact a solicitor as soon as possible with the specialist knowledge to advise you on the potential of your claim.
At Express Solicitors, we regularly claim financial compensation for the victims of dog attacks. Our experienced lawyers will provide you with clear, easy to understand legal advice during an initial consultation, allowing you to make a fully informed decision about whether to pursue a claim.

Can I Claim Dog Bite Compensation?
If you have suffered a dog attack in the last three years, were under 18 at the time of the attack and have yet to reach your 21st birthday or if a loved one was fatally injured in a dog attack, you could have a legitimate claim for compensation.
For your claim to be successful you will also need to demonstrate that another person’s negligent or reckless behaviour was in some way responsible for the dog attack that caused your injuries. Perhaps they knowingly owned a dog classified as ‘dangerous’ under the terms of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 or mistreated and neglected a dog to such an extent that it became dangerous?
Dangerous Dogs Act 1991
The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 was introduced in response to the rising number of serious dog attacks in the UK. Four breeds in particular were identified as being dangerous:
- Pit Bull Terrier
- Japanese Tosa
- Dogo Argentino
- Fila Brasileiro
Strict regulations are enforced upon the owners of these breeds and cross breeds, including keeping their pet muzzled and on a lead in public places and ensuring the dog is registered on the Index of Exempted Breeds.
If your dog bite claim involved one of the above breeds, get in touch with a solicitor as soon as possible to discuss a claim.
