Express Solicitors have taken on their first Legal Apprentice in a brand new scheme running exclusively in Manchester.
Junior Smith has spent the last 3 years studying at Priestley College in Warrington where he achieved outstanding results in his Law examinations. He explains: “I was originally going to attend the University of Liverpool to study Law, but then someone from my college’s student support told me about the new opportunity available. I applied and luckily was given an interview, I was even luckier to successfully be offered a position. Now I am settled into the firm, I realise I made the correct decision to go down the apprentice route.”
The 19 year old started working with the NCT Administration Team on the 1st October 2013 and will experience a variety of roles within the firm during the 18 month course.
The new scheme is run by the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) and involves on the job training with workplace assessments as well as traditional style learning in the classroom.
Carole Jones, HR Manager at Express Solicitors, commented on the new scheme: “We are hugely excited to be part of the scheme and Junior is already impressing people with his commitment and we hope that while he is learning with CILEX and earning a real role with Express he will ensure a very successful future at the firm.”
When asked about his new role as the firm’s first Legal Apprentice, Junior commented: “I would recommend the legal apprenticeship to anyone interested in Law. It thoroughly provides you with an in-depth insight into the real life prestigious law firm environment that many university graduates often dream for whilst furthering your education, and getting paid at the same time.”
