On the 18th and 19th April 2013, Express partners Robin Patey and Richard Lowery, attended the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) 2013 conference. The annual conference was held at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, South Wales.
As a firm Express actively supports APIL, who continue to do all they can to protect the interests of injured people. During the conference topics were discussed revolving around the government reforms to personal injury law and the future of costs and funding.
At the conference, APIL President Matthew Stockwell, gave a speech where he commented on the recent changes to personal injury legislation. “We might lament the unfairness and disruption that will inevitably result from recent reforms. What’s important for us as professionals is that we rise to meet these challenges remembering that injured people are completely reliant on us in this regard.”
When asked about the conference, Express partner Richard Lowery commented: “The event afforded the opportunity to meet solicitors from fellow claimant personal injury law firms, and to be able to discuss the current challenging times due to the recent changes in the law and the forthcoming change to the costs regime.
“We are all united to continue to fight for justice for injured people, and disappointed that the government changes will mean that injured people will no longer receive 100% of their damages.
“It was clear from the conference that the incoming APIL president Matthew Stockwell is determined and passionate in his support for those injured by the negligence of others.”
