Eden McCaughie is a Trainee Solicitor in the Employers Liability department, having initially joined Express solicitors in July 2016 as part of the Summer Vacation Scheme, this scheme ran from July until the end of August and involved shadowing members of staff from each department and taking new enquiries. Upon completion of the Summer Vacation Scheme Eden was then offered a full-time role in the New Client Team. She was then promoted to a Litigation Assistant role for Partner Kimberley Kirkby in the Employers Liability department in October 2016. In November 2017 Eden then became a Litigation Executive in the Employers Liability department where she runs her own case load and specialises in accidents that occur at work and Public Liability.
When asked what Eden enjoyed most about her role, she commented “I enjoy working within the field of Personal Injury because I am able to get to know the injured client throughout the course of the case and help to secure the right settlement to enable them to get their lives back on track in the most stress-free way possible. What I like best about my job is the people that I work with. My colleagues at Express are like my second family. We all come from different backgrounds and have varying levels of experience however, despite this, each and every person is treated equally. I feel that the experience that I gained whilst assisting Kimberley on high value and complex cases has helped to build my confidence and I use the knowledge that I have learned and apply this to my own case load.”
Eden is currently studying her LPC on a part-time basis at Liverpool John Moores University alongside her role with Express Solicitors. Eden commented, “I hope to progress with the firm with the hope of one day qualifying as a Solicitor specialising in Personal Injury. I have experience in catering and hospitality and I am able to use the customer service and people skills that I learned in this role and apply them to my client handling skills.”
