Hannah Mycock is a Trainee Solicitor in the Road Traffic Accidents department at Express Solicitors, having joined the firm in February 2018.

Hannah specialises in all manner of personal injury claims, from accidents at work to slips and trips, however, she now specialises in Road Traffic Accidents and is responsible for taking claims from an admission of liability (fault) through to settlement and compensation being awarded. Hannah commented “This is an interesting area as it is where claims get accurately valued using medical reports and evidence of financial losses. You really get to know a client’s claim at this stage and become highly invested in doing your best for them.”

When asked what she likes best about her role, Hannah commented, “Along with the comradeship between myself and the rest of the RTA team, my favourite thing about my job is the rewarding nature of helping clients who have been injured through no fault of their own and gaining great results for them.”

“I am determined to do my best for each and every client. I try to put myself in their shoes and imagine how I would feel, and what service I would expect to receive if it were me involved in the accident. This helps me explain matters to client’s in a way that is useful, and they can understand. I think it is so important to thoroughly explain the process to each client as the claim progresses so that they are fully aware of what is going on and when. Litigation can be a daunting process for a client, so being kept up to date regularly makes the claim process much easier and more manageable, and it puts the client’s mind at rest. This way, they can focus on their recovery.”

Before joining Express Solicitors, Hannah qualified with a Law Degree from Sheffield Hallam University in June 2016 and then took a year out from her studies to gain hands on experience as a Personal Injury Litigator at a high street law firm. Hannah then returned to The University of Sheffield part-time in September 2017 to complete her Legal Practice Course and Masters in Legal Practice.

Hannah currently lives up in the hills of Derbyshire where in her spare time she is an active member of the Vintage Sports Car Club, competing in trials, rallies and hill climbs throughout the year. Hannah commented, “Driving is not just a matter of getting from A to B for me, it is a real passion. I have a competitive nature, so this sport is really rewarding, if not at times frustrating!”

Hannah is also a leader at The Girls’ Brigade, a youth organisation for children aged 5-18. She currently leads a fantastic group of girls aged 14-18. They complete skills-based activities that can be applied to real life situations as they get ready to do their GCSEs and A-Levels and find employment. Hannah hopes to encourage the girls to become strong individuals who can face hurdles logically and effectively, while having fun at the same time.
