To mark World Hijab Day, we recently hosted an event centred on the practice of veiling, not just as a religious requirement, but as a point of connection across many different faiths and cultures.
The afternoon was a wonderful opportunity for colleagues to come together in an open, welcoming environment to learn, share and celebrate our diverse community.
One of the key focuses of the event was highlighting the shared values and historical similarities of veiling across various religions. By exploring these parallels, we were able to have meaningful conversations about modesty, identity and the different ways faith is expressed around the world.
The event was designed to be hands-on and inclusive, featuring:
-
Attire & Expression: Colleagues had the chance to try on Islamically compliant attire for both men and women, providing a practical perspective on the garments and their significance.
-
Food & Fellowship: No celebration is complete without great food! We enjoyed a variety of dishes that brought everyone together for a relaxed lunch.
-
Open Dialogue: We maintained a dedicated Q&A space where team members could ask questions freely. This open-door approach encouraged a thoughtful exchange of ideas and helped dispel common misconceptions.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who took part and contributed to such an engaging atmosphere. Events like World Hijab Day are vital in helping us learn from one another and ensuring that our workplace remains a space where everyone feels understood and respected.
At Express, we believe that understanding our differences is exactly what helps us work better together.
