More about Vincent Gray
Vincent joined Express Solicitors as a Partner in July 2026. Vincent qualified as a Solicitor in November 1995. In between 1998 and 2026 Vincent was a Partner at 2 different Altrincham based law firms.
Vincent grew up in Northenden. Before qualifying as a Solicitor Vincent worked from 1979 in Manchester for an insurance company; starting as a trainee claims correspondent, handling various types of policyholder insurance claims and for the last 8 years of his time at the insurance company he dealt exclusively with Claimant personal injury claims. Vincent would consider on behalf of the insurance company the merits of a claim and correspond with the Claimant’s Solicitors and would sometimes attend court, with his appointed Solicitors, to see if a claim could be compromised at court before the court trial started and he would also by arrangement travel across England & Wales to visit Claimant’s Solicitors offices to see if terms of settlement of a claim could be negotiated there and then face to face with the Claimant’s Solicitor. These early years of Vincent’s long personal injury claim career gave Vincent valuable insight as to how insurance companies internally work and how they think and the pressure that could be brought to both sides of the claim to reach a compromise.
Vincent whilst working at the insurance company studied to qualify as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute [ACII] and after years of night school at Manchester Polytechnic obtained a 2.1 LLB (hons) law degree. Vincent when at the insurance company had resolved to become a Solicitor and was a trainee Solicitor at a Manchester based Defendant law firm but fate had it that he would on qualification as a Solicitor change sides to become a Solicitor acting exclusively for injured Claimants.
Vincent’s main desire and driving force is to fight for the right of the Claimant to obtain the personal injury compensation that their claim deserves.
In the past Vincent has dealt with many claims for seriously injured people – acquired brain injuries, at work or when in a vehicle, effecting every aspect of the Claimant’s life; amputation claims, some because the initial injury was so serious amputation was the best clinical outcome, and fatality claims brought by the surviving dependents or bereavement damages for the parents of a deceased minor or for a surviving partner.
Vincent has dealt with many claims where the serious long term effects of the Claimant’s personal injury were not readily apparent but over time caused long term pain and suffering and adversely impacted the earning capacity and enjoyment of life of the Claimant.
Vincent has dealt with many claims where liability for causing the Claimant’s injury has been denied or the Defendant has challenged the genuineness of the Claimant’s injury complaints. Vincent would do his best to fight to see if a satisfactory compromise of the claim could be achieved after court action was taken.
Vincent admits that over the years he has lost claims in court and has advised many Claimant’s to drop their claim, but feels these past experiences serve to sharpen how to advise a Claimant about their realistic prospects of having a successful claim.
Vincent has been successful in pursuing public liability claims for injury caused by trips and slips against organizations like Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and B&Q.
Vincent recently helped a pregnant Claimant take court action against Asda when petrol soaked her when at an Asda petrol station when the petrol nozzle dispenser broke away from the rubber hose causing the Claimant to suffer minor physical injuries but go on to develop significant psychological trauma. Liability was strenuously denied.
Vincent has acted for Claimants injured when slipping on wet floor in the toilets of a public house or a restaurant or when at work.
Vincent has helped Claimants gain personal injury compensation when tripping on a dangerous defect on a poorly maintained or lite highway or pavement and from car parking organizations because of the state of the surface of the car park.
Vincent has helped Claimants win personal injury compensation when a vehicle wheel has come loose and fallen off their vehicle shortly after their vehicle was serviced by a garage.
Vincent helped a claimant win significant compensation when the tips of the claimant’s right fingers where trapped and badly injured when a work colleague negligently mishandled and dropped a heavy door they were carrying.
Vincent has helped ground workers win significant compensation against their employer when struck by onsite heavy excavators or similar plant and machinery.
Vincent has dealt with many MIB Untraced Driver claims where the injured victim had no one to sue but was in a vehicle when injured or was a pedestrian and has achieved significant compensation payment awards.
Vincent has dealt with personal injury claims under the Package Holiday Regulations, which make the UK based package holiday provider liable for injuries caused by the negligence of foreign hotels and the like.
Vincent has dealt with personal injury claims for UK residents injured at the hands of foreign registered and insured vehicles and drivers.
The vast majority of personal injury claims arise from the use of a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or public access place. Vincent has dealt with hundreds of such claims, ranging from modest claims to claims of significant value.
Generally, Vincent strives to ensure all Claimants understand their claim position, whether that be their Solicitor legal costs funding position or understanding the importance of their own role in the claim process by them keeping good records and receipts and by providing clear and accurate instructions about their claim. Vincent will go the extra mile to try and ensure a claimant obtains the compensation that their claim deserves.
Out side of work, Vincent enjoys to odd round of average golf, cooks a decent BBQ and generally enjoys socializing and playing with his grandchildren and watching on TV his beloved Manchester City, who since the mid-1970s have provide him with some highs and plenty of lows.
