More about Emily Mawdsley

Emily is an Advocate in the Advocacy Team. She graduated from the University of Leeds in 2018 and completed the Bar Practice Course and accompanying Master’s qualification in September 2024. Before joining Express, Emily worked for a large city law firm as a paralegal in their Clinical Negligence team.

Emily enjoys the cut and thrust of working as an Advocate and takes great pride in the opportunity to have a tangible impact on the outcome of her clients’ cases. She endeavours to be accessible when needed, providing clear advice to instructing solicitors at any stage of an Application.

As well as attending court for interlocutory hearings, Emily is regularly instructed to draft legal documents including Opinions, Advice on Quantum and Grounds of Appeal.  She enjoys the varied and challenging work available at the firm and is thrilled to have accepted Pupillage with Express starting in September 2025.
