Jake Denton is a Trainee Costs Lawyer in the Costs department, Jake graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a degree in Business Management and a Masters in Sport Business Management and is currently undertaking the Association of Costs Lawyers qualification while working day-to-day with the team at Express.
When asked what he enjoys most about his role at Express Solicitors, Jake answered: “The aspect I enjoy most about working in costs is being able to make a tangible contribution to a case behind the scenes. No two matters are the same, and I enjoy analysing the work undertaken throughout the lifespan of a claim and ensuring it is properly valued and recovered. From preparing bills of costs and reviewing files to assisting with negotiations and costs strategy, I take satisfaction in supporting the wider team and helping secure the best possible results for our clients.
One of the most important aspects of my role is helping clients navigate the costs process with confidence. As costs work often takes place in the background of a claim, I make every effort to explain matters clearly and keep clients updated at key stages. By providing straightforward advice and managing expectations throughout the claim, I help ensure clients feel informed and supported from start to finish.
