More about Michael Wharton

Michael is a trainee solicitor at Express Solicitors. He has a dual role and handles a wide range of cases relating to both actions against the police and criminal injuries compensation. Michael studied for his Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course at Liverpool John Moores University.

Since the outset of his legal career, Michael has assisted innocent victims in pursuing compensation via the CICA Scheme. While he has dealt with a variety of cases, his specialist area is helping victims of serious sexual offences and traumatic injuries. Michael’s ability to listen and empathise with his clients ensures he builds a relationship of trust, which he finds essential when assisting clients in navigating the claims process and obtaining the maximum compensation they deserve.

Michael has been involved in high-profile cases throughout his career, including representing clients injured in the Manchester Arena terror attack in 2017. Working alongside one of the firm’s partners, he has also helped many clients secure higher awards of compensation than those initially granted by the CICA, through the Scheme’s review and appeals process.

In addition to his work with innocent victims of violent crime, Michael also represents clients in civil actions against the police. He handles matters including wrongful arrest, false imprisonment, trespass to property, and assault and battery.

Michael strives for justice for every client he represents, seeking the highest awards of compensation on their behalf while ensuring they feel heard, respected, and supported throughout the process.

Outside the office, Michael enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as relaxing with films and travelling when possible.
