Neil McHugh is the Chief Clerk at Express Chambers and brings over 31 years clerking experience from the self-employed Bar, having clerked Civil, Crime, Family, Employment & Chancery Commercial work. Neil started clerking in 1995 as a Civil Clerk in Liverpool. He then joined Deans Court Chambers, Manchester in 2000 to clerk in Criminal Law, wanting to obtain more knowledge of different disciplines.
Neil then moved to 8 King Street Chambers and was elevated to Senior Clerk very quickly. After a short tenure he left and joined Cobden House Chambers, a Common Law set of Chambers as the Senior Clerk / Practice Manager where he remained for 10 years before joining 7 Harrington Street Chambers, Liverpool.
Neil is regularly featured and recommended in the Legal 500.
Outside of work Neil is married and has 4 boys and very occasionally when he is not being Dad’s taxi enjoys running his son’s football team, watching football and F1.
