Sam Ryan is a Trainee Costs Lawyer in the Costs department, Sam graduated from the University of Durham in 2022 with a BSc in Finance and is currently undertaking the Association of Costs Lawyers qualification while working day-to-day with the team at Express.
When asked what he enjoys most about his role at Express Solicitors, Sam answered: “What I enjoy most about working in costs is that no two cases are ever the same. We’re involved throughout the entire lifespan of a case, which gives us a unique insight into how matters develop from start to finish. Whether it’s assisting with budgeting, providing advice, preparing bills, or taking part in negotiations, it’s rewarding to know we’re supporting the case and the wider team at every stage.”
“Costs often runs in the background of a claim, so keeping clients informed is essential. I aim to explain costs issues clearly at key stages, including budgeting and disputes, to ensure clients understand what’s happening and what to expect, even after settlement where necessary. ”
