Data analyst Tom Wilmott is raising money for Brain Tumour Support and Compton Care hospice in Wolverhampton by running one mile for every goal scored at this year’s World Cup.

As of day 18, he has hit his £2,000 target and has run a total of 216 miles. With the group stages over and his target met, Tom has made the challenge harder for himself by including penalties into the total of goals scored.

His challenge has caught the eye of the media, with Tom being featured on the BBC website, BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio Wiltshire.

Tom has also organised a raffle with over 30 prizes up for grabs including a deluxe M&S hamper donated by Express Solicitors. The firm has also donated £150 to his fundraiser.

Tom said: “I’m doing this for my girlfriend’s family. Her dad Martin sadly passed away in 2017 due to a brain tumour. Both charities provided amazing support and care for Martin and his family.

“I couldn’t do this challenge and raise as much money as I have without the support of friends, family and the businesses who have donated to the raffle.

“I’d also like to thank Express for their amazing support. I really appreciate the generosity shown and I feel very fortunate to work for a company that is so supportive of charitable causes.”
