Anthony Moore, 51, was left with a life-changing brain injury after a 5kg steel plate smashed through his windscreen while travelling on the M6.

Alongside his brain injury, he also suffered from multiple fractures to his skull and face and a fractured right hand.

Anthony and his family have secured a substantial six-figure out-of-court settlement to fund the lifelong rehabilitation, care and treatment his injuries require.

My life has been destroyed because somebody failed to do one basic thing – secure a load properly. I wasn’t speeding. I wasn’t taking risks. I was simply driving home from work to my family. I have lost my career, my independence, my health, and the life I had built with my wife and children.

If that steel plate had struck another vehicle, a motorcyclist or hit a child in another car, someone could very easily have been killed.

Nina Ramsden, a Partner in our Occupiers’ and Public Liability department said:

This case has had a devastating effect on Anthony and his family. His life was changed in an instant. By starting a legal claim, we were able to help him access specialists in patient brain injury rehab and access to private therapy at home after discharge along with interim payments to pay the family’s bills.

This case highlights why catastrophic accident victims need to get legal experts involved at the earliest opportunity to maximise recovery and relieve financial strain.

If you have suffered an injury at work in similar circumstances, you may be entitled to make a claim.
