Express Solicitors interviewed Jill Scott, former Lioness, star of A League of Their Own, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here and even the new season of Ted Lasso, on the firm’s continued support of her and her wife’s Manchester-based café Boxx2Boxx.

Express has been funding the refreshments for after the café’s weekly wellbeing walks and that was discussed along with how those walks have impacted the local community.

Jill said the help from Express has been brilliant for the community, which was always at the heart of Boxx2Boxx and its ethos. The café is based in Northenden, not far from Express Solicitors’ south Manchester headquarters.

She said: “Northenden has become a real hub for the community and we like to think Boxx2Boxx has been at the centre of that.

“Express Solicitors have really matched our values and morals.

“They’re not just providing a coffee, they’re providing friendships and they’re providing help to people that are struggling and we are very grateful.”

Shelly, Jill’s wife and co-owner of the café, added: “We cannot thank Express enough for the support over the years.”

Express has funded over £4,570 worth of refreshments over the past 12 months for the walkers taking part in the Boxx2Boxx wellbeing walk around Wythenshawe Park. The walks are now attended by around 20 people each Wednesday by those who want to improve their mental health, make new friends and have a good chat to others in the community.

When talking about the mental health aspect of the event, Jill said: “A walk, a talk and a coffee is the best thing you can do.”

Shelly added: “Everyone comes as individuals and leaves as friends.”

The coffee shop’s community building project has been supported by Express since 2024.
