An NHS worker is seeking compensation after falling and breaking her ribs in Jeremy Clarkson’s Farmer’s Dog pub car park.

Elizabeth Palmby, 68, broke her ribs and had to have surgery on her hand after tripping on temporary metal covers.

Surgeons had to remove metal fragments from her hand and she has now been left with a jagged ugly scar.

The pub has been made famous around the world after featuring on Jeremy Clarkson’s smash hit Amazon Prime series Clarkson’s Farm which follows his exploits as he runs a farm and pub in the Cotswolds.

Elizabeth said: “It was supposed to be a great fun trip – I really wanted to visit as I enjoyed watching his Amazon show. But it was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

“I bought my most expensive boxes of eggs from the farm shop but then I fell on them and was left with diddly squat and was badly injured. I know Jeremy is a perfectionist and the pub itself was perfect and the staff were great, but the car park was a total disaster.

“It is very dangerous and an accident waiting to happen. I am probably scarred for life. Luckily, I keep myself fit and healthy and I think that helped me but anyone frail could have been more seriously injured. At the minute that carpark is a danger to visitors and needs fixing urgently.”

Hand injury

Jack Klein, a Solicitor in our Occupiers’ and Public Liability department said: “This has been an awful ordeal for Elizabeth after falling in the Farmer’s Dog car park and badly cutting her hand. Elizabeth suffered a horrific injury on what should have been a fun day out.

“She quite rightly wanted to warn others after what she has been through. This is probably now one of the most famous pubs in the world now due to Clarkson’s Farm, so expectations of customers are high and, on this occasion, Elizabeth was badly let down.

“Any pub, even one run by Jeremy Clarkson, needs to do the basics and make sure any customer visiting their premises are kept safe and sound.”
