Deepa Patel

Trainee Solicitor
» Back To Department

Deepa Patel is a Trainee Solicitor in the costs department, having originally started with the firm in the New Client Team in June 2014.

When asked what she likes best about her role, Deepa answered: “The best thing is the variety of cases I deal with. As the case comes to costs at case conclusion I get to see exactly what has happened in the case from start to finish. I get to see what evidence we needed, the complexity and the amount of work and effort put into each and every case that the firm takes on.”

Working in the costs department, Deepa sees a variety of different cases come in from all areas of PI and works on drafting simple costs statements and detailed red line bills as well as preparing Part 8 proceedings.

Deepa currently resides in Preston with her husband and in her spare time has become very fond of cooking. Deepa enjoys trying new recipes but also has a tendency to make things up as she goes along!

After recently getting married Deepa also took on the joint responsibility of her husband’s dog who is a cross breed between a husky and an akita. She is very demanding and often keeps Deepa busy running around after her.

Deepa added, “I have always wanted a pet of my own and although the dog is amazing to have, I decided I wanted bunnies. They are no longer bunnies, they are now big fatties but still very cute. We are still looking to extend the family but not sure how many feet it will have, the question is what we are having next…”

Deepa is also a keen traveller, going to India every year as she has family and a home out there. In recent years, Deepa has so far visited; South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Phuket. Having also been skiing on a school trip to France this is also something Deepa would love to do again and there are plenty other places left on her bucket list to visit yet!

Deepa’s favourite quote is by Mahatma Gandhi, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
