Tim Kitchin is an Assistant Solicitor in the Employers Liability department at Express Solicitors, having joined the firm in February 2019.
Tim specialises in accident at work cases, but previously has had extensive experience in public and occupier’s liability matters. Tim has over twenty years’ experience in claimant personal injury work and in that time has dealt with many varied types of cases involving a wide variety of injury types, from sprained ankles, fractured bones, chemical burns to repetitive strain injuries.
When asked what he likes best about his role, Tim commented, “The feeling that comes from believing that you are helping someone who has been injured, through no fault of their own and who may be being treated unfairly, overcome the obstacles and hurdles that insurers and defendants often try and put in the way of achieving a just and reasonable outcome.“
“I believe that I communicate in a way which clients understand. I do not like the use of legal jargon and I am not afraid to ask difficult straight forward questions of either clients or defendants. I believe that this type of approach serves to identify the relevant issues early in a case and that can only be to the benefit of all parties concerned.”
“I always strive to maximise my client’s damages, especially in unfortunate situations where they will never get back to the way they were before the accident happened and damages are their only recourse.”
Tim has gained a BA Hons Degree in Social Sciences at Hull University and was previously employed as an Associate Solicitor with the same firm for more than 20 years, he began his legal career relatively late. Tim started as a Litigation Assistant at the age of 32 and studied part time at Manchester Metropolitan University whilst working, to pass the Common Professional Exam (Law Degree Conversion) and then to obtain the Legal Practice Course. He was then offered a training contract and a position as a solicitor on qualification.
