£12,000 Awarded to Groom to-be Following Slip in a Bar

John Pitcher a self-employed security consultant, has been awarded £12,000 after he slipped in a bar in Newcastle whilst out with his friends. Mr Pitcher went on a night out with his friends to celebrate his up-coming wedding in Las Vegas that was scheduled for the following week.  Unfortunately for Mr Pitcher, on that night he slipped on wet flooring and sustained a fracture to his wrist. As such, during the course of his wedding he had to wear support on his arm which ruined part of his wedding and holiday in Las Vegas. When he returned, due to the problems with his arm, he had to take some time off from his security post which was located abroad.

Mr Pitcher came to Express Solicitors after another firm of solicitors refused to take his case any further as they felt it was fatal to the claim that the client had not reported the accident at the time of the incident to a member of staff at the bar. However, as soon as Express Solicitors received the file we wrote to the Defendants and pushed the case forward to issue court proceedings. Express Solicitors obtained witness evidence from a number of witnesses who were there at the time of the accident and other evidence to support the claim. The other side fought very hard against this case but eventually the case settled after the witness statements to them.

Mr Pitcher was very happy with the result of his claim handled by Sarah Mawdsley at Express Solicitors. He commented: “I must personally thank you once again for a positive result and settlement to the case, well done. It’s a shame that you had some agreement in place with my previous solicitors because to be quite honest they were rubbish from the very start and did not want to continue with the case after telling me that ‘it could not be won.’ I guess you proved them wrong!”
