It was my great pleasure recently to attend a James bond Gala ball at the De Vere White’s Hotel at The Reebok Stadium Bolton. A thrilling time was had by all as a fantastic evening of live music dancing and dinner was laid on. There was even an opportunity to chance one’s arm with a game of roulette or black jack at Casino Royal as well as opportunities to have pictures taken in some of 007’s famous cars.
Suffice to say the dress code was strictly dinner jackets and bowties and quite a few Vespa Martini’s were consumed!
There was a serious side to the event though as it was a fundraiser for Derian House Children’s Hospice. They provide invaluable care for terminally ill children and their families ensuring that children whose lives have been tragically cut short can lead as full and comfortable a life as possible.
While Bond may be many people’s idea of the ultimate action hero in reality it’s the staff at places like Derian House who are the real heroes giving essential support medical assistantance and fun and laughter to those children who need it most.
