On the 18th April 2013, Express Solicitors’ partner, Kimberley Newman, spoke at a BPP Law School personal injury panel event. She was representing the claimant view point of personal injury, with another representative from Accumension giving the defendant point of view.
Kimberley gave a talk to the students attending the event about the word of personal injury law, the effect of the current Government reforms on the industry, and also gave an insight into how she worked up the legal career ladder to reach partner level within the firm.
Kimberley found that the students were very receptive and she was impressed at the number of questions asked throughout her personal injury case study. When asked about her talk, Kimberley commented: “The students found the talk I gave interesting and insightful which was really pleasing and it was nice to have interaction with the students since they asked plenty of questions. Many of the students liked the fact that Express had growth plans and a young equity partnership in comparison to many other law firms around today. The students also thought it was fantastic to see such a large number of female partners at Express, as sometimes women get worried that it is still very much a male dominated industry.”
Kimberley informed the students of the current graduate opportunities available at Express Solicitors, and gave out plenty of information packs and contact details, so that students have all the information they need to apply for roles at the firm.
Kimberley’s talk lasted for 50minutes, giving evidence to the fact that it is desirable to have a chatty personality if you are trying to forge a career as a personal injury lawyer. Kimberley’s talk was such a great success that she has already been asked to go back again next year!
