Express Solicitors are delighted to have awarded Arya Tabrizi, a first year LLB student, a week’s work placement, plus £100 after achieving one of the highest marks in Manchester Metropolitan University LLB’s Tort prize. Express sponsors this prize annually and it is awarded to the student who receives the best overall mark in their LLB Tort Exam. This year there were five joint contenders and all were invited to take part in a telephone interview with Recruitment Officer, Fiona Laird before Arya was successfully announced the lucky winner.
During his placement at Express Solicitors, Arya had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the world of personal injury law spending time in a variety of different departments across the firm. Arya spent time with members of the new client team, dealing with initial attendances and also shadowed fee earners in the Costs, Employer’s Liability, Occupier’s & Public Liability, and RTA departments.

When asked what he was able to take away from his experience placement at Express Solicitors, Arya commented: “My favourite aspect of the week is without a doubt the opportunity to attend Court with a fee earner from the occupier’s and public liability team. I am very grateful for everyone at Express that gave up their time to allow me to shadow different aspects and learn how a law firm runs in practice.”
“The week was very well organised and everyone made a real attempt to include me both socially and professionally.”
HR & Training Officer, Emily Wattis commented, “It is always great to see a student so enthusiastic about getting involved. Arya took every opportunity to make the most of this experience and we hope he has gained a great deal from the placement. Here at Express, we always look to invest in the lawyers of the future, be that capable students like Arya, or our own talented junior fee earners.”
