On Saturday 13th July 2013 associate partner, Richard Lowery, took part in the Coniston challenge in order to help raise money for Alder Hey children’s unit.
Richard wanted to help raise money after his best friend’s daughter was treated at the Alder Hey children’s unit when she was unfortunately born with a congenital heart condition.
The Coniston challenge is a triathlon, involving kayaking for 3 kilometres, cycling for 17 kilometres, and ending with a 10 kilometre run to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston. Richard managed to complete the triathlon in 6 hours and 30 minutes and stated that ‘it was one of the hardest things he had ever done’. It didn’t help that somebody had removed one of the signs on the cycle course meaning that he cycled 10 miles further than was necessary.
Richard and his friends managed to raise in excess of £2,000 for the charity thanks to generous donations. Express Solicitors would like to save a massive congratulations to all who participated!
